Subject: NOT OFFENDED!! Date: Mon, 28 May 2001 09:27:17 EDT From: DoyleEW@aol.com To: dawntorrence@cherubs-cdh.org Dawn, You don't have to respond - please don't - I know you are so busy! I read and re-read what you wrote in the newsletter and first my ire was up and my riotous indignation peaked beyond reason. (Why they dreaded me in the NICU at UVA, but they also admired my "strength" - still don't know about that one.) Fortunately for you, I'm a congressman's worst nightmare : - )! I get stuff from BOTH political parties during elections because I do write - regularly - on my Child Support Case with my ex - (he owes over $20K right now), environmental issues and other issues too. They don't know if I'm a Democrat or Republican - and guess what? I'm getting LOTS of experience seeing what Lobbing actually IS at General Dynamics - (new job) I'm in charge of the Travel Expense Reports that come through for the Corporate Headquarters - and they have a department that regularly lobbies the government. (GD is in bed with the US Government so to say.) Something that may make things easier to all members is to have a "Form Letter" to send to these representatives. We just sign our names - sounds weird but it is something that I have used before on issues of organic gardening/bioenginering etc. (Just makes it easier for those that can't write or don't have the "time.") Don't worry - I will write my own. It just may help to get others to also write so to say. Petition - oh, yeah! A hundred signatures - I will try to exceed that! And Charlottesville, Virginia is full of Medical Professionals who believe that yes, there needs to be Patient's Bill of Rights - all the hospitals have them - before they were "required," and many believe in intervention of a problem, etc., here and certification! Confession: I indirectly told Dr. Robert Boyle of Shane's case - his response was "so sad." He has some of that indignation in him too. Unfortunately, that tight-knit group would boot some out - and hospitals are united in many ways too in keeping their doctors/staff from second guessing other doctors/staff and hospitals. (General feeling - I felt it - is that UVA staff doesn't like to send CDH babes to North Carolina, just a sixth sense.) I admire what you have done. I know what you are doing and have done was not out of vengeance or anger but to help others! If your that "crazy woman" than so am I - we can be crazy together. Not only did Martha Jefferson give me info on CHERUBS so did UVA - Dr. Bradley Rogers - they actually used your list of medical terms! Roanoke Memorial Hospital has the info now too - and I will work on every single hospital with NICU's in VA. This is a fight I intend upon winning for Shane - and the many, many others out there. A cure may not be in our future but saving others and saving others from feeling that their care was less than adequate is! Now off to work! Hugs, Elizabeth, Proud to be one of the "crazy members of CHERUBS"!
