Subject: PRESS RELEASE? Date: Fri, 8 Jun 2001 10:35:04 EDT From: DoyleEW@aol.com To: dawntorrence@cherubs-cdh.org Dawn, I'm off today - mental health day. Anyway - enclosed in this email is a Word form of a press release. I kinda put the "Form Letter" in your lap - and that wasn't fair considering all you have to do anyway. But working for the American Red Cross - Blood Services, I know whenever we were low on the blood supply or had some new announcement we were to send these "standardized" press releases - usually my job to the local media. I thought in this campaign for signatures - this would be something our reps could do - either send or fax in these "Press Releases" with their information on them. You never know this could generate something awesome! So I made one up, using the information you gave in your "Form Letter" (that was wonderful! I couldn't have said it any better). I've been emailing, have printed up and copied a bunch of forms and am going to set up for next Friday (weather permitting) for Friday's After 5 and try to get even more signatures than I have already. Question, Rachel is 16 - she wants to sign - my questions is do they have to be "18 and eligible to vote?". She is really in support of this - in her "indifferent teenage way" and thinks she could get more out there to sign - her age group. You might want to address that to all - because many of us have relatives that may get on the "band wagon" so to say regarding this that are under 18. (I really don't see how that matters as long as they are not 5 years old and signing in crayon - but who knows?) I contacted the City of Charlottesville today and will not have to pay a fee or do anything. Now I'm going to see if any of my relatives has a card table so I can set up shop! Hugs - and remember - we are standing up now! Elizabeth PS All a rep would have to do is to print it out and send it to Local Media's fax numbers - you can easily spend time getting these # from the phone book or calling and then send the info - you can also do it through your email to email them or even a fax modem.
