| Sponsorship funds
will go to:
Research
-
currently our research revolves around our CDH Survey Results.
There
is a great need for more CDH research and CHERUBS maintains the world's
only CDH research database on long-term and family histories of CDH
patients. To create the site and database software that we would
need to make our information available to all researchers for free,
$500 a month is needed. http://www.cdhresearch.org
Conferences
- our annual International Conferences for 2009 will be in Texas and
2010 in California - both the events currently need sponsorship.
We need funds to pay for these
conferences,
as well as our Grieving Parent Get-Togethers, and funds to allow us to
attend medical conferences. http://www.cherubsconference.org
Newsletters
- with the cost of printing 2600 newsletters and postage costs, it
currently cost over $1000 for each newsletter printing and mailing.
New Member
Packets - with an average of 1 new member daily, we have become
financially unable to mail out New Member Packets. These
cost an average of $25 each with items, printing and postage and they
include information folders with newsletters, our Parent Reference
Guide, journal, tote bag, baby blanket, newborn "I'm a Cherub" shirt,
pen, chapstick for baby, and more.
2
Employees
- with over 1800 members, it's too much for 1 full-time volunteer and
many
part-time volunteers. Currently, Dawn, our only full-time
volunteer,
works on CHERUBS 60 hours a week answering phone calls, doing new
member
work-ups, keeping up with the mail, updating the web site, organizing
the
volunteers, writing the newsletter, tabulating survey results,
etc.
We are just getting too big and we need help.
Operating
Costs
- to cover postage, printing, and supplies.
It adds up and Dawn and
our Advisors often cover costs out of their own pockets when funds are
not available.
So where do donations
go? Currently
donations are covering our operating costs and what conferences we can
afford. We would like donations to go directly to medical
research
and emergency funds for families to help cover expenses while their
cherubs
are hospitalized.
